Infection Control in the Areas of Dysphagia Rehabilitation

Introduction : Development of medical service and aged society brings the increase of rehabilitation services for dysphagia. It is necessary to take precautions against the nosocomial infection because of the increase of resistant bacteria, elderly population and the larger hospitals. However, there is a lack of awareness of infection control in dysphagia rehabilitation area.
Body : It is possible to prevent 30% of nosocomial infection caused by Exogenous source which are spread through the air and contacts. Although a body of research about infection control in health care system and medical institution area have been done, research in dysphagia rehabilitation area are relatively small. Therefore, looking at research in health care system and medical institution area and comparing with them will serve for the future research. Previous research of infection control show that there is a strong relationship between the level of awareness and performance of infection control and highlighted the need of providing the guidelines and education of infection control.
Conclusion : Dysphagia rehabilitation area has a very limited research about nosocomial infection. Therefore, future research in this area should be conducted.
