Clinical Signs of Late-stage Alzheimer's Disease: Dysphagia and Pneumonia Cha, Tae-Hyun*, M.Sc., O.T., Kim, Ji-Yeon**, M.Ed., O.T. Swallowing disorders (dysphagia) and aspiration pneumonia is important symptoms in late-stage patients with Alzheimer's disease. Pseudobulabar swallowing disorders is leaded to weight loss with not optimal nutrition and is affected to adversely nutrition state by homeostasis mechanisms and aspiration pneumonia is the most common causes of death in patients with Alzheimer's disease. The main problem in patients with Alzheimer's disease is the reduced level of consciousness and swallowing disorders, periodontal disease, respiratory and gastrointestinal tube that is inserted into the various tubes that will be exposed to pneumonia. Patients with swallowing disorders have to be careful so as not to be come in their body with a lot of bacteria institutions such as hospitals and nursing homes, and they must prevent and treat immediately bacterias when symptoms should be, especially the cognitive function degraded Alzheimer's patient's, we will have to train not let something food and saliva into mouth by their strengthening the capabilities of oral, pharyngeal function.
